i took asher's advice a while ago of limiting to one album from each artist, so it's more of a top artists chart than albums, but you get the point
there's also a ton more jpop/rock in here that i listen to outside of album format that i can't be assed to find the albums for so polkadot stingray and kenshi yonezu are representative of that

if you like spirit phone i'd really highly recommend mobius trip and hadron kaleido, it's similar to spirit phone in how unique it can be. bowman's vocals are definitely kinda off-putting at first but they grow on you really quickly, and the result is one of the most striking albums i've ever heard that's really hard to classify. most people who like the album hate it on their first listen but can't stay away and end up falling in love with it, which is definitely true of me.

don't let the fact that its associated with homestuck stop you, other than one-two name drops it has nothing to do with it

you may already know about it but i'll post it just in case

http://www.slsknet.org/news/

its p2p music sharing, you're technically supposed to share your own files for people, but you don't really have to

you can search for only .flac, or only 320k mp3, etc. i've been using it as my main source for dling albums ever since whatcd died

god i love deerhunter, have you heard Microcastle / Weird Era Cont. / Rainwater Cassette Exchange? they're all from the same recording sessions and they're by far my favorites, but monomania is my 2nd favorite behind those recording sessions
